You Yeah Smokin' Hot
Nathan Moore's newest studio album is now available for download from reapandsow, and It is flawless, absolutely flawless.  His last recording,  In His Own Worlds, has moments of blinding brilliance but never makes the transition from a collection of great songs to a coherent album.  You Yeah Smokin' Hot features the heart-achingly poetic, yet slightly geeky lyrical ability that Nathan has been honing for all these years, but with an effortlessness that I've never heard from him.  Each song flows smoothly and logically into the next and every song feels buoyant.  I don't know anything about the other musicians on the album (though it could easily be the same team as on IHOW), but there's a nice mix of acoustic and slide guitar, piano, keyboards and banjo, with a bit of button-box and Brad-Barr-style tape recorder effect thrown in.  The fifth track, She Made Me Love, is the closest I've ever heard Nathan get to straight-up pop-rock bliss.  The other songs run from having an almost Cat Stevens structure (Every Silver Lining), to a bluegrass-tinged country feel (Lost and Found) to slightly punk-blues essence (Gotta Be).  Of course,it's all Nathan, through and through.

He really needs to get his ass to Pittsburgh, or at least Ohio or West Virginia.
